Sustainability
The UK precast concrete industry acknowledges that it has a responsibility to improve its performance on sustainability. The industry is becoming more resource efficient and environmentally aware through numerous initiatives led by British Precast Architectural and Structural.
British Precast Architectural and Structural members demonstrate their commitment to sustainability by signing the Sustainability Charter - a mandatory requirement for membership - which is fully and independently audited. The Precast Sustainability Charter and KPI initiative is part of a wider Concrete Sustainability Strategy initiative, led by the Sustainable Concrete Forum. Additionally, British Precast has developed a Precast Resource Efficiency Action Plan (REAP) in 2013 in collaboration with WRAP, MPA BRMCA and the Bricks Development Association (BDA) to improve different indicators and aspects linked to resource efficiency.

As well as EPDs British Precast Architectural and Structural has produced detailed carbon footprinting factsheets covering brick-faced, reconstituted Portland stone architectural precast cladding and precast reinforced structural concrete.
